Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "L. Norton & Son, Bennington." 
 
This is the mark of Luman Norton and his son, Julius, who worked together at the family pottery from 1833 to 1838 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 42). 
 
This beauty features an Early Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Norton Floral with Two Leaves and Three Blossoms.  Stands 13 1/2" tall.
 
Good Condition.  A large surface ping on the shoulder to the left of the decoration (closeup 1) and a
Y-shaped hairline on the bottom edge (closeup 2).  No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  A stone ping on the right side of the spout by the handle and one at the base in the making.
