Item 10420
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Large 2 Gallon Milk Bowl with Comma Vining Garland.
The jar's form and decoration make it easy to attribute to David Parr, Jr. who made stoneware in Richmond, Virginia in the 1860's and 1870's (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 102).
As you know, Parr stoneware from Richmond is in high demand.
This beauty features a Large Size, Thick Squared Rim, Tapered Sides, and Five Units of Brushed Cobalt Comma Vining. The vining is painted in broad strokes and all units end with the exagerrated last stroke that Parr decorators were so happy to apply. Measures 6" tall and 13" in diameter across the top.
Excellent Condition. Two chips to the right of the spout (1/8", 1/2") and some staining in the bottom. That's it! No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
