    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Little 1/2 Gallon Ovoid Jug marked "BOSTON" in all capital letters.   

     

    This is the work of Frederick Carpenter worked with Jonathan Fenton in Boston from 1794 to 1797 using BOSTON in all caps as the stamp (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 48-49).

     

    This beauty features a Tiny Size, Early Ovoid Form, Incised Shoulder, Footer, Ochre Dip on the Top and Base, and the BOSTON stamp on the Shoulder. Stands 9 3/4" tall. 

     

    Very Good Condition.  Two flat 1/4" chip on the back of the spout, a 3" hairline on the left side at the bottom that wraps under 1 1/2" (closeup), and some staining from use.  No base chips, cracks, or restoration. A thin layer of molasses on the inside at the bottom.
