Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Blue and White Spongeware Mush Cup with Matching Saucer.  
 
This large cup was used to eat hot mush or porridge.  Notice the handle has a reinforcement under it to be sure it does not snap off with the weight of the contents.   
 
Dating to the late 19th century, this beauty features Strong Cobalt Sponging.  The cup is 3 1/2" tall and 5" wide across the top, and the saucer is 8 1/4" wide.
 
Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.  Even most of the original gold trim on the rim of the cup and saucer is intact.
