Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 2 Gallon Stoneware Cream Pot made and stamped "Lyons."
This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
This beauty sports the Cream Pot Form, Tooled and Grooved Rim for Ease of Tying Down a Cover, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accent at the Terminals, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Two Freehand "2" Capacity Numbers, and a Brushed Cobalt Plant that Fills the Front. The plant sports a stem with 8 leaves and four blossoms. Bright and shiny cobalt as was typical of Lyons stoneware. Exceptional contrast. Downright Gorgeous! Stands 9 5/8" tall.
Excellent Condition. Scattered very light staining. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A couple stone pings inside in the making (closeup).
