    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped "Lyons." 

     

    This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).

     

    This beauty sports the Pottery "Lyons" Stamp, Freehand "2" Capacity Number, and a Brushed Cobalt Oak Leaf with Acorn.  Most usual is the spout has been dipped in a brown glaze and a couple more brown rings encircle the shoulder.  Stands 14 1/2" tall.   

     

    Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind. Some bubbling in the cobalt in the making.
