Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this sweet 1 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made in and stamped for "Lyons."
This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
This beauty a Small Size, Clear Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, the Freehand "1" Capacity Number, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip! Bright and shiny cobalt as was typical of Lyons stoneware. Comes with a form-fitting period lid. Stands 9 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Minor nibbles around the inner lid seating ring, and some scattered light stains. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. The lid has two chips on the top edge (3/8", 5/8"). Otherwise, as made.
