Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jar made and stamped by M. C. Webster & Son, Hartford."
This is the work of Mack C. Webster and his son, Charles T., who ran their pottery in Hartford, Connecticut from 1840-1857 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 60-61).
This beauty features a clear maker's mark with a cobalt wash and cobalt accents at the handle. Stands 11 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. A chip inside the rim (3/8") and three outside (1/8" to 1/2"), a 1" vertical hairline on the rim above the left handle, and a couple minor and faint stains. No base chips or restoration. A 1" firing line at the base and slightly convex on the bottom in the making.
