Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 1 Gallon Wax Sealer Canning Jar made for "M. W. Sanford, Dealer in Gen. Merchancise, Milton, W. VA."
This jar was made in SW Pennsylvania in either Greensboro or New Geneva.
Circa 1880, this beauty features the Wax Sealer Form with Grooved Rim, Two Top Stripes and One Bottom Stripe that Frame Five Lines of Advertising. The stenciling is clear and complete. Stands 10" tall.
I can find no other example of stoneware from this town on the internet.
Excellent Condition. A 3/8" chip inside the rim. That's it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
