Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Large 5 Gallon Crock made "M. W. Woodruff, Cortland."
This is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).
This beauty sports a Large Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Two Brushed Cobalt Tulips. The tulips features 8 leaves and two blossoms with 7-8 petals each--all in a bright and shiny cobalt. Measures 12 1/2" tall and 12 1/2" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. Four minor chips on the rim (1/4" or less) and some light staining from use. No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
