    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this attractive 1 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "M. W. Woodruff, Cortland."  

     

    This is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).

     

    This beauty sports a Tooled Rim with Seating Ring inside to hold a Lid, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Tulip Decoration.  The tulip boasts 8 leaves created with a slip cup and a blossom with 6 petals created with a brush.  Strong cobalt too! Stands 9" tall.

     

    Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind!
