    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 2 Gallon Stoneware Cream Pot made and stamped by "M. Woodruff, Cortland."

     

    This is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).  

     

    As the ovoid form and primitive decoration indicate, this is an early work for Woodruff., circa 1850-1860.  It sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Freehand Capacity Number and Brushed Cobalt Bush on the Front. Measures 10 1/2" tall and 9 1/2" wide across the top.    

     

    Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind!  Remarkable!
