Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Early 3 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "M. Woodruff, Cortland."
This is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, a Cobalt X, 3 Over 2 Capacity Number (corrected mistake), and a Brushed Cobalt Plant. Stands 15 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A faint 3" vertical hairline at the base of the right side closeup). That's it! No chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
