Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Large 3 Gallon Jug made in and stamped by "M. Woodruff & Co., Cortland."
This is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Four Whimsical Flowers in a Pinwheel Formation. The decoration has Tulip Blossoms Opposte Two Tulip Buds. The symmetrical decoration fills the front very nicely. It was created with a Slip Cup and Brush. Strong cobalt too! Stands 15 1/2" tall.
