Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 1/2 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped "New York: Little West 12th St."
This is the work of William A. MacQuoid who ran his pottery in Manhattan from 1863-1879. Macquoid created some of the most folky decorations in American stoneware history like this one here (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 63).
This beauty features a Petite 1 1/2" Gallon Size, Pottery Stamp, and a Large Freehand Double Floral Decoration. All the decoration is accented. Stands 10 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A minor 1/4" chip on the underside at the edge. That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
