    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made in and stamped "Cortland."

     

    This is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).

     

    This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Whimsical Brushed Cobalt Floral with Two Tulips on the Top and Two Bellflowers on the Bottom.  Exceptional bright and shiny cobalt.  Stands 13 1/4" tall 

     

    Good Condition.  Light staining and missing handle.  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  The chip on the front bottom is in the making and glazed over. 

     

    A wounded jug, but still a great looking shelf piece or object for restoration.
