    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Little Jug made and stamped by "Moffitt."

     

    This is the mark of Manley Robinson Moffitt (1835-1913) who made stoneware in Randolph County, North Carolina in the second half of the 19th century (Charles  Zug III, Turners and Burners: The Folk Potters of North Carolina, pp. 262-263). 

     

    This beauty features a Small Size, Rounded Spout, Tooled Shoulder, Strap Handle, and Pottery Stamp.  Stands 8" tall.

     

    Very Good Condition. A 1/2" chip inside the spout, thin and shallow flakes on the right side edge of the handle, and a 3/8" chip on the base.  No outer spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
