    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 2 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "N. & A. Seymour, Rome."  

     

    This is the work of Norman and Arden Seymour who made stoneware in Rome, N.Y. from 1824 to 1848.  Ketchum writes, "few pieces bearing the mark N. & A, Seymour/Rome can be found" (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 70). 

     

    This beauty features the Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip.  Stands 13 1/2" tall.

     

    Excellent Condition.  An 1/8" nibble on the left side of the spout and a 1/4" chip at the base.  That's it!  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A surface drying/firing line on the top of the handle in the making.
