Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "N. A. White & Son, Utica, N.Y."
 
This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70).
 
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and one of White's Signature Decorations: The Tall Orchid Executed with a Slip Cup and Brush. The orchid has 2 base  leaves, two blossoms, and 9 buds.  The stem and two blossoms are done with a slip cup and the rest of the decoration with a brush. The orchid fills the front.  Very attractive cinnamon glaze too!  Stands 14" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  A 1/2" chip on the left side of the spout back by the handle. That's it!  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
