Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Crock with a Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration.
This is likely the work of Samuel Brady and John J. Ryan who ran their pottery in Ellenville, N.Y. from 1878-1897 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 66).
This beauty features a Classic Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration. The decoration is executed with shiny cobalt. The chicken is nicely centered an accented with dots. There are many pieces of corn too! Measures 9 1/2" tall and 10" wide across the top.
Good Condition. Three chips outside the rim (3/8" to 1/2"), a tight hairline on the bottom coming up 1 1/2" under where the chicken is pecking, a 1 1/2" surface craze line on the left side that wraps under 1 1/2", and some light scattered staining. No inner rim or base chips, cracks, or restoration.
