Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Crock from Northeast Ohio.
The form and decoration indicate that it may have been made by William Rowley of Middlebury, Ohio. He potted in Ohio in the 1850s (Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, p. 54).
This beauty features a Semi-Squared Rim, Inscribed Shoulder, Freehand Capacity Number, and Large Brushed Cobalt Floral with Bottom Bow, Two Sets of Leaves, and Oval Dotted Blossom. The floral fills the front with cobalt. Measures 9 3/4" tall and 9 1/4" wide across the top. .
Excellent Condition. A 1 3/4" chip on the underside at the edge and some light staining by the rim. No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
