Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Norton & Fenton, East Bennington, VT."
This is the work of Julius Norton and his brother-in-law, Christopher Fenton, who were partners in the Norton pottery in Bennington from 1844-1847 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 42).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Triple Floral with Two Honeysuckle Blossoms and One Tulip Blossom. Fine artistry and bold cobalt! Stands 12 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A shallow 1/2" chip under the rim, a 3/4" chip at the base, and some scattered light staining. That's it! No upper rim chips, hairliness, cracks, or restoration. Some slip drips from glazing the inside in the making.
