Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this super 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "O. L. and A. K. Ballard, Burlington, VT."
This is the mark of Orrin and Alfred Ballard who ran the family pottery under this stamp from 1856-1867 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 46).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Folky Cobalt Floral Executed with a Slip Cup. The floral features a leafy stem with three curly blossom emerging from it. Stands 13 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A minor 1/8" nibble on the spout and base. That's it! No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Spout leans slightly left in the making.
