Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by the "Ottman Bro's. & Co., Fort Edward, N.Y."
This is the work of William and Gilbert Ottman who ran the company in Fort Edward, N.Y. from 1872-1892 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 68).
This beauty sports a Larger Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Bluebird Poised on a Fancy Leaf. Both the bird and the floral are very nicely detailed. Stands 123" tall.
Very Good Condition. Four small chips on the rim (1/8" to 1/2"), a 1/4" chip on the shoulder trim in the back, some surface craze lines under the right handle (closeup 1), and a surface ping on the back (closeup 2). single 1/4" flake on the rim. No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
