Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Wax Sealer Fruit Jar made and stenciled "Palatine, W. VA." (Modern Fairmont)
 
Circa 1880, this beauty features a Tooled Rim with Groove for the Wax, Broad Wavy Stripe, and the Stenciled Location.  Strong cobalt on a light gray glaze for maximum contrast. Stands 8 1/4"
 
Good Condition.  Six small chips on the inner rim (under 1/4"), two contiguous hairlines from the rim (1/2", 2") (closeup), a chip on the back at the bottom, and a hairline across the base from being convex in the making.  No outer rim chips, stains, or restoration.
