Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar made and stamped by "P. Herrmann."

This is the stamp of Peter Herrmann who made pottery on Eager Street in Baltimore from 1850-1872 (William Ketchum, American Stoneware, p. 98).

This beauty features a Clear Pottery Stamp and Three Units of Comma Vining Dangling from the Rim.  Notice the shape of the rim is designed to allow a wax covered paper or cloth to be tied securely around the top.  Strong cobalt on a light gray background clay for maximum contrast.  Stands 10" tall.

Very Good Condition.  A flat 3/4" flake on the top of the rim (1/8", 3/4"), professionally restored 1/2" chip outside the rim (closeup), and a flat flake (3/8") and minor nibbles on the base.  That's it!  No hairlines, cracks, or stains.
