Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 6 Gallon Jar made by "R. T. Williams, New Geneva, PA."
This is the work of Robert T. Williams who worked in New Geneva, PA from 1882 to 1895 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 168-170).
This beauty features a Large Size, Tooled Rim accented with a Straight Stripe, Shoulder decorated with Two Wavy Stripes, Body Displaying the Company Advertising Surrounding a Fancy Floral with Floral Accents Above, and the Base Bearing a Large "6" Capacity Number Flanked by Dashes and Underscored by a Broad Straight Stripe. Stands 17" tall.
This piece was fired with wood and not coal as Wiliams later used, so it has a light coloration and bold, dark cobalt-- a combination that provides strong contrast.
Excellent Condition. A 1/2" chip on the right side center. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A scratch to the left of the stencil in the making.
