Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Butter Crock made by "Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, PA."
This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, Pennsylvania from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Circa 1880, this beauty features the Rare 1/2 Gallon Size, the Company Advertising Surrounding a Floral Blossom and Leaves, and a Strong Contrast between the Light Gray Glaze and the Cobalt. Measures only 5" tall and 6 1/2" across the top.
Excellent Condition. A 1/4" chip and partial 1/2" chip inside the rim. Otherwise as made!
