Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this unique 1 Gallon Scratch Jug that Reads, "From the California Wine Com., Lima, Ohio."
This jug is quite original! The label is an Envelope with Stamp in the Upper Right, Cancellation Stamp to its Left, and the Address of the Sender! It pretends that the jug can just be put in the maill!
The stamp has a little profile like a real stamp and the cancellation stamp has "White, Aug. 21". I suspect the potter ran out of room to write "White Cottage" [Ohio] where I suspect this jug was made like other brown scratch jugs from Ohio.
Excellent Condition. A narrow 1/4" rub on the left side of the spout. Otherwise as made!
