Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Fantastic Redware Scroddleware Bank.

Dating to the second half of the 19th century, this beauty is in the form of an Empire Style Dresser with Two over Three Drawers.  The scroddle clay really makes for a woodgrain effect!  Slip-decorated knobs.  This is a large bank measuring 7" wide, 4" deep, and 6 1/2" tall.

The bank comes with an note that reads, "William Clark (born July 29, 1806).  Learned the trade of a potter.  In leisure time he took pleasure in making toys all burned and glazed and shaped as banks in the form of little bureaus or log cabins for his young relatives.  The writer has seen a number of these in the possession of the families of his uncles and aunts.  IB. Thorn 1937."

Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind!

If you collect banks or scroddleware, you are not likely to see another piece like this in a very long time!
