Item 10200
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Decorated Cuspidor Spittoon.
The form and decoration make it easy to attribute this piece to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1865, this beauty features a Tooled Footer, Petals around the Drain Opening, and Four Brushed Cobalt Tulips around the Outside. Measures 4" tall and 7 1/4" wide across the top.
Good Condition. Two chips and two faint 2" lines in the top opening, and two chips on the top edge (3/8", 1 1/4"). No base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
