Item 11023
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Decorated Stoneware Cuspidor Spittoon.
The form and decoration make it easy to attribute this spittoon to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1870, this beauty features Flower Petals around the Drain Opening and Three Large Brushed Cobalt Sideways Tulips Around the Middle. The generous, dark cobalt creates an exuberant garland. Measures 4" tall and 7 1/4" wide across the base.
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind!
