Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by "Richey & Hamilton, Palatine, W. VA ."
Richey and Hamilton made pottery in Palatine (modern Fairmont) from around 1870-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 100).
Dating around 1880, this beauty features Three Broad Brushed Cobalt Stripes Framing the Company Advertising Surrounding the Capacity Number. Stands 12" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 1" chip on the bottom of the right side, three small chips on the underside at the edge (1/4" to 1/2"), and some staining and glaze wear from use. No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
