Coming to you from Doc's Crocks, is this monumental 5 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "Riedinger & Caire, Poughkeepsie, N.Y."
This is the stamp of Philip Riedinger and Adam Caire of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. who partnered in stoneware from 1857 to 1878 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 65).
This beauty features a Large Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Floral with Four Blossoms on a Leafy Stem-- all in Bright and Shiny Cobalt. Stands 17 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1" chip on the spout back by the handle. That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A kiln touch and slight recess on the left side with a 1" firing line below in the making.
