Item 8412
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "S. B. Bosworth, Hartford, CT."
This is the work of Stanley B. Bosworth who worked in Hartford from 1871 to 1890 and used this stamp toward the end of that period (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 61).
This beauty features the Preserve Jar Form with a Thick Molded Rim, Pottery Stamp, and a Stylized Floral in a Diagonal Up the Front. The floral sports three leaves and a center swirl blossom surrounded by dots that extend up the stem. Stands 11 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A half dozen small 1/4" chips inside the rim and some small scattered light stains, mainly on the back. That's it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Overall, very clean example with shiny glaze.
