Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "S. Hart, Fulton."
This is the stamp of Samuel Hart who potted in Fulton, New York with this stamp from 1840-1876 (see William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 74-75).
This beauty features a Flared Rim, Tooled Shoulder, Applied Handles, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand Capacity Number 2, and a Bird on a Branch Executed with a Slip Cup. The bird has an expressive face, dotted breast, and long tail feathers. This bird design was unique to the Hart pottery. Measures 10" tall and 7 3/4" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A 3/8" chip on the bottom edge and some light stain runs on the back. That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
