Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "S. Hart, Fulton."
This is the stamp of Samuel Hart who potted in Fulton, New York with this stamp from 1840-1876 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 74-75).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Swipe, Freehand Capacity Number "3" riding a Tornado, and a Bird with Dotted Breast also riding a Tornado. This style of bird was a signature decoration for this potter. Bold cobalt! Measures 10 1/4" tall and 10 1/2" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. A shallow 1/2" chip on the top of the rim, 3" vertical craze line to the left of the bird, and four short and tight hairlines at the base 3" and under (closeups). No base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
