Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "S. Hart."
This is the stamp of Samuel Hart who potted in Fulton, New York with this stamp from 1840-1876 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 74-75).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Swipe, Freehand Capacity Number "One" in Script, and a Bird with Dotted Breast riding a Tornado. This style of bird was a signature decoration for this potter. Stands 10" tall.
Excellent Condition. A narrow 3/4" chip on the bottom edge and some very light scattered staining from use. No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
