Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jar with Tulip Garland easily attributed to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1860, this beauty features an Ovoid Form, Squared Rim, Tooled Shoulder, a Garland of Three Brushed Cobalt Tulips Around the Middle, and a Tooled Footer. Each tulip has 7 leaves and a blossom with 5 petals. The cobalt is rich and shiny! Stands 10 3/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. Two 3/8" chips on the rim and a 3" surface craze line on the bottom. No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
