Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 1/2 Gallon Butter Crock made for the grocers, "Sobanski & Eberts, 2261 Market St., Wheeling, W. VA."
Sobanski & Eberts had this jug made by the potteries in Southwestern, Pennsylvania (probably Greensboro).
Dating around 1880, this Beauty Sports a Small Size, Tooled Grooved Rim for Ease of Tying a Cover Over the Top, and Three Lines of Stenciled Advertising. The stencil is crisp and complete. Measures 6" tall and 6 1/4" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A minor 1/8" nibble on the bottom fold of the tooled rim. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A couple 1/4" stone pings in the making.
