Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jar made and stamped by "Solomon Bell, Strasburg, VA."
Solomon Bell was one of the most famous of the Bell Family Potters, working as a potter in Strasburg from the early 1850's until his death in 1882 (H. E. Comstock, The Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region, pp. 373-74).
This beauty features a Tooled Flared Rim Designed for Easily Tying a Cover Over the Top, Pottery Stamp, and a Large Brushed Cobalt Tulip on Each Side. Stands 10" tall.
Very Good Condition. Three flat flakes (1/4" to 1/2") and a 1" chip on the very top of the rim. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
