Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Gorgeous 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by the "Somerset Potters Works."
This pottery was located in Somerset, Massachusetts and run by Leonard and Benjamin G. Chace from 1847-1882 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 51).
This beauty features the pottery stamp with cobalt wash and a Large Double Floral Executed with a Slip Cup in Bold Cobalt. The floral has ground cover, a leafy and dotted stem, and two blossoms with four petals accented by dots and dashes. Stands 13 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. As made with some modest surface wear. Recessed on the lower left front in the making.
