Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this spectacular 3 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped "Lyons."
This jug is attributed to Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
This beauty sports a Larger Size, Tall and Narrow Form, Pottery Stamp, Freehand "3" Capacity Number, and a Tulip that is off the Charts for Artistry. The tulip sports seve base leaves and a blossom with nine petals with frilly tips. Lots of stripe accents. Bright and shiny cobalt too! Stands 16 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. On the left side we have a 1/4" chip at the bottom and a 1" chip on the underside on the edge, and some light staining from use. That's it! No outer spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
