Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jar with Tulips.
It is easy to attribute to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1860, this beauty features a Tooled Rim with Groove to Facilitated Tying a Cover Over, and Two Large Brushed Cobalt Sideways Tulips Executed with Bright and Shiny Cobalt! Each tulip has 9 leaves and a blossom with 3 petals. Stands 8 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Minor nibbles and a 1/4" flake inside the rim, and a flat 1/2" chip at the base. That's it! No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
