Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Crock whose decoration indicates that it was made by Brady and Ryan of Ellenville, N.Y.
Samuel Brady and John J. Ryan who ran their pottery in Ellenville from 1878-1897 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 66).
This beauty features a Classic Bird on a Stump Decoration. The decoration is executed with shiny cobalt. The bird is proudly poised on the stump which is dotted and striped and situated in ground cover. Measures 10 1/4" tall and 10 1/2" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. Water glass staining inside, a 1" chip outside the rim, and a minor 1/8" nibble on the left handle. No inner riim or base chips, hairline, cracks, outer stains, or restoration.
