Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Jar.
This is the work of Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).
Circa 1860, this beauty features a Tooled Rim with Groove for Ease of Tying a Cover Over the Top, and a Garland of Three Brushed Cobalt Dangling Florals Around the Middle. Each blossom dangles from a Leaf. Very Bold Cobalt! Stands 8 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A minor 1/8" nibble and a narrow 1/4" flake on the rim. Otherwise, as made!
