Item 10178
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Jar with Comma Vining Garland.
The jar's form and decoration make it easy to attribute to David Parr, Jr. who made stoneware in Richmond, Virginia in the 1860's and 1870's (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 102).
As you know, Parr stoneware from Richmond is in high demand.
This beauty features a Thick Squared Rim with a Groove for Tying a Waxed Paper or Cloth Over the Top, and Three Units of Brushed Cobalt Comma Vining. The vining is painted in broad strokes in rich cobalt and all units end with the exagerrated last stroke that Parr decorators were so happy to apply. Stands 8 1/4" tall.
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind.
