Item 9856
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar with Floral Garland easily attributed to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1860, this beauty features a Squared Rim, Tooled Shoulder, and Two Brushed Cobalt Tulips/Clovers Around the Middle. Each floral had 10 leaves and a blossom with three petals. The cobalt is rich and shiny and there is lots of it! Stands 10 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A single stain run, a chip or stone ping on the side (closeup), and a 1/4" chip at the base. That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
