Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Tall and Stately 2 Gallon Stoneware Jar easily attributed to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1860, this beauty features a Tall and Narrow Form, Squared Rim, Tooled Shoulder, and Three Brushed Cobalt Tulips Around the Middle. The cobalt is rich and shiny and there is lots of it!. Stands 14" tall.
Excellent Condition. A minor 1" surface ping line on the rim (closeup). That's it! No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Some surface drying lines on the underside in the making.
