Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Gorgeous Rare 2 Gallon Jar with Tulip Garland.

It was a featured piece in the Westmorland Museum of American Art Show in Greensburg, Pennsylvania in 2007.  The show was entitled, "Made in Pennsylvania: A Folk Art Tradition."  I have included pictures of the program and this piece from p. 61.

While the show catalogue attributes this piece to the Boughner Pottery of Greensboro, PA, the form and decoration bear a closer resemblance to pieces by Henry K. Atchison of New Geneva, PA.  Atchison build his pottery in New Geneva in the 1850's and ran it until injuries in the Civil War incapacitated him (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 160-161).  Atchison worked previously in Beaver, PA and this jar's form is very similar to the jar form from Beaver, and the decoration is similar to a few known signed Atchison pieces.

This beauty features a Tulip Garland that Flows Halfway Around Jar from Top to Bottom!  There are 12 leaves and 3 tulip blossoms.  The cobalt is spectacular and the artistry impressive.  Stands 11" tall.

Good to Very Good Condition.  Even wear and a couple  small chips around the inner lid seating ring, and a professionally sealed horizontal hairline running 3/4" above the base from the front bottom center to the back bottom center (closeups).  No outer rim or base chips or stains.
